U.S. Helping Deliver Planes of Aid to Ukraine Daily; DOD to Ask Congress to Fund More Troops to the Region

The U.S. and more than 30 other countries continue to send weapons and other battlefield aid to Ukraine as it fights off Russian forces, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby told reporters Tuesday, as Air Force Magazine reported.

“We are helping coordinate the deliveries into Ukraine of all that material, not just ours, but of others at various trans-shipment sites in the region,” Kirby said. “That stuff is not sitting around in warehouses. We’re helping get it on pallets and helping it get on trucks and helping it get into Ukraine every single day.”

Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks told reporters that the Pentagon is “moving quickly” to send additional weapons that “provide a little more range and distance” than what has been sent so far, but she declined to say more. Hicks also said the administration will ask Congress for funding to deploy more service members to Eastern Europe.

President Biden stepped up his rhetoric on the war Tuesday when he said for the first time that it appears Russia has committed genocide in Ukraine, as The Washington Post reported.

Also on Tuesday, Ukraine said it had captured a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as BBC reported.
