A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report details the health problems that Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii military families experienced after last year’s petroleum leak at the Navy’s Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility, as Military Times reported. Of respondents to a voluntary survey, 87% said they had new or worsened symptoms, including headaches and diarrhea. “These results highlight the need for preventing exposure to petroleum products and might aid public health professionals and clinicians in detecting and responding to future similar incidents,” the report said.
