National Association of Counties Urges Communities to Honor Vets with ‘Operation Green Light’

August 12, 2022

The National Association of Counties and National Association of County Veteran Service Officers are urging counties across the country to light government facilities and other buildings in green the week of Veterans Day to show support for military veterans.

“By shining a green light, county governments and our residents will let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported,” the organizations said on the Operation Green Light website.

The site includes a toolkit for participating counties, with templates for social media, traditional media outreach, letters to Congress, local resolutions and more.

“We hope defense communities across the country will take part in this opportunity to let our current and future veterans know we appreciate their service,” ADC Vice President Karen Holt said. “It also shows our individual and collective commitment to recognizing the men, women and families who have sacrificed for our nation.”

Operation Green Light is scheduled to take place Nov. 7 to Nov. 13.
