Five plant and animal species are being removed from the endangered species list thanks to conservation efforts on San Clemente Island, California, the Navy announced in a press release, saying it was a partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. “The Navy remains committed to our conservation efforts on San Clemente Island, and to be good stewards of the natural resources we manage as part of our national security mission,” said Karnig Ohannessian, deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for environment and mission readiness….

Texas recently signed the largest-ever statewide intergovernmental support agreement with the Army, Navy and Air Force, according to an Army press release. It will allow for shared services at 15 installations. “It’s important that [installations] have these kinds of partnerships with our states, where we train, live and recreate,” Assistant Secretary of the Army (Installations, Energy and Environment) Rachel Jacobson said. “You’re our neighbors; we are part of your communities.”
