Army to Try to Reframe How Soldiers Think of Mold, According to Report

March 20, 2023

The Army will roll out a new messaging campaign soon to “reframe how we think about mold,” Military.com reported, citing an internal document it has reviewed. It said the document detailed training and talking points seeking to put responsibility on rank and file soldiers to report moldy housing and cleaning it.

“Teach others to understand mold as a normal part of our environment, and prevention of it as a routine part of life for every member of the total Army community,” the document advised, according to Military.com.

The “counter mold operation” could also include changes such as more training for maintenance workers and a 24-hour response time when any soldier formally reports a mold issue in their barracks.
