Budget Week(s) in D.C.: First Details to Arrive Thursday

March 6, 2023

The Biden administration is scheduled to release an outline of its fiscal year 2024 budget request Thursday, including summaries of its priorities and brief details about each agency’s spending request, as CQ reported.

The administration will then send Congress the full budget request next Monday, kicking off a flurry of House and Senate hearings before lawmakers return home at the end of the month. Even before the numbers are out, some DOD officials will be asked about the administration’s budget on the Hill, as Military Times noted.

Gen. Glen VanHerck, head of Northern Command, and Gen. Laura Richardson, head of Southern Command, will testify before the House Armed Services Committee Wednesday morning.

Gen. Anthony Cotton, head of Strategic Command, and Gen. James Dickinson, head of Space Command, will be before the same panel that afternoon.

The senior enlisted leader from each branch will talk about the budget in a HASC hearing Thursday morning.
