Fort Barfoot, Virginia last week became the first Army installation to change its name from the former Fort Pickett, as part of DOD’s push to rebrand installations with Confederacy-linked names, as On Base reported. Now we know dates for when some of the other installations will get their new names, as Axios reported.

  • Fort Rucker, Alabama will become Fort Novosel April 10.
  • Fort Lee, Virginia will become Fort Gregg-Adams April 27.
  • Fort Hood, Texas will become Fort Cavazos May 9.
  • Fort Benning, Georgia will become Fort Moore May 11.
  • Fort Bragg, North Carolina will become Fort Liberty June 2.

Name changes have not yet been scheduled for Fort Gordon, Georgia, Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia and Fort Polk, Louisiana, Military Times reported.
