House NDAA Work Starts This Week

May 8, 2023

The House Armed Services Committee will hold several subcommittee markups Thursday and Friday to work on sections of the fiscal year 2024 defense authorization bill. The hearings will be livestreamed.

The sections likely to be adopted this week “will show just a few sections of the full measure to be marked up by the full committee later this month. But issues like scaling back diversity initiatives in military training and limits on defense abortion policies — topics expected to be major debate points this year — could be previewed in those early looks,” Military Times noted.

A full committee markup is scheduled for May 23.

Armed Services committee leaders in both chambers hope to have their versions of the NDAA on their respective floors in June.
