When Congress returns to D.C. after Labor Day, it will have only a few weeks to pass a stopgap spending bill before the fiscal year ends Sept. 30.
The far-right House Freedom Caucus said Monday it will not support a continuing resolution that keeps spending at its current levels unless some of its policy positions are incorporated, according to Roll Call.
One of the conditions, as Military.com reported, is to “end the left’s cancerous woke policies in the Pentagon undermining our military’s core warfighting mission.”
The addition of any controversial provisions could cost Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) votes from Democrats or even some moderate Republicans.
