The Department of Veterans Affairs has begun deploying mobile medical units to cities across the country to provide care for homeless and at-risk veterans, VA announced in a press release.
“Veterans experiencing homelessness face a variety of barriers to accessing health care, including a lack of transportation,” VA Secretary Denis McDonough said. “With these new mobile medical units, homeless and at-risk veterans don’t have to visit VA hospitals — we come right to them.”
The units will arrive over the next six months, according to a deployment schedule. They are being sent to:
- Orlando, Florida
- Oklahoma City
- Los Angeles
- Minneapolis
- Atlanta
- San Diego
- Cincinnati
- Montgomery, Alabama
- Salt Lake City
- West Haven, Connecticut
- Tacoma, Washington
- Seattle
- Hampton, Virginia
- Chicago
- Charleston, South Carolina
- Bay Pines, Florida
- Lexington, Kentucky
- Cleveland
- Omaha, Nebraska
- Birmingham, Alabama
- Reno, Nevada
- Las Vegas
- New Orleans
- Tucson, Arizona
- San Francisco
