Senate leaders hope they can pass a three-bill spending package today that includes funding for military construction and veterans affairs. The measures would be the first three fiscal year 2024 appropriations bills to clear the Senate. The House has passed four.
The government is operating under a continuing resolution that expires Nov. 17, which will not be enough time to complete the regular appropriations process. Senate appropriators are discussing another CR that would run through mid-December, according to CQ, which noted that no final decision has been made. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) wants to extend the CR into next year.
