The White House has said it will be out of funding to support Ukraine by the end of the year, but Congress won’t renew its talks until next month. Congress adjourned until Jan. 8 without acting on the Biden administration’s supplemental spending request to provide aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
The sticking point is what language to attach addressing the migrant crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.
“You know who is going to have the best Christmas imaginable? Vladimir Putin,” Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), chair of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, wrote Thursday in an X post. “Our failure to renew aid to Ukraine is a tremendous gift to him. We must get it done next year.”
