Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona has begun moving its A-10 Warthogs to the boneyard as it retires the aircraft after almost 50 years of flight, Air Force Times reported. “The A-10 has been the symbol of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base for many years, and it will continue to be a symbol for the airmen of [Davis-Monthan], a symbol of their commitment, excellence and service,” 355th Wing Commander Col. Scott Mills, an A-10 pilot, said….

The Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo, the state of New Mexico and the Army have finalized a restoration plan for the former Fort Wingate, which closed in 1993, as AP reported. The two tribes and the state reached an agreement with the federal government in 2022 “to settle claims that land, water and cultural resources were negatively impacted by hazardous substances at the site,” according to the report. Much of the settlement will be spent on environmental restoration.
