Two bills in the Alabama legislature would create a state health care system for veterans and their families, Military.com reported. “We want to shine a light on the needs of veterans, because they can get lost in mental health and addiction conversations,” State Sen. Andrew Jones (R) said. If the bills pass, the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs would be tasked with designing the system….

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) is sending 750 members of the New York National Guard to New York City as part of a plan to stop crime in the subway system, AP reported. The Guard members will be at stations to check passengers’ bags for guns, knives and other weapons.
