U.S. Puts Together $300 Million Aid Package for Ukraine

March 13, 2024

The White House announced Tuesday it’s sending $300 million in military aid to Ukraine.

“When Russian troops advance and its guns fire, Ukraine does not have enough ammunition to fire back,” National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters. “That’s costing terrain, it’s costing lives, and it’s costing us, the United States and NATO Alliance strategically.”

The last aid package was announced Dec. 27. Since then, the administration has been waiting for a long-stalled supplemental spending deal that’s stuck in Congress. It would provide aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan plus provide aid for the U.S.-Mexico border crisis.

The package announced Tuesday relies on credits refunded to DOD for recent weapons buys, senior defense officials told The Hill.
