House MilCon and Veterans Bill Set for Markup Thursday; Other Hill Hearings Scheduled

The House Appropriations Committee is scheduled to mark up its draft of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs spending bill Thursday morning, even while overall defense budget disputes with the White House continue.
The committee will meet to mark up the FY 2020 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies bill, Thurs., 10:30 a.m.
Here are other important hearings taking place this week:

  • Senate Appropriations Committee hearing with Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford on the FY 2020 defense budget, Weds., 10 a.m.
  • House Veterans’ Affairs Committee markup of several pending bills, Weds., 10 a.m.
  • House Oversight and Reform National Security subcommittee hearing on efforts to prevent veteran and military suicides, Weds., 2 p.m.
  • House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Economic Opportunity and Technology Modernization subcommittees joint hearing on improvements to the GI Bill benefits program, Thurs., 10 a.m.
  • House Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee hearing with Navy Vice Chief Adm. Bill Moran, Air Force Vice Chief Gen. Stephen Wilson, Army Vice Chief Gen. James McConville and Marine Corps Assistant Commandant Gen. Gary Thomas, Thurs., 2 p.m.
