Army Planning for Repairs on Historic Homes

November 3, 2019

The Army is seeking public comment on plans to repair and renovate interwar-era houses at 35 bases while maintaining their protected status as historic sites, according to a Military.com story.
The Army is seeking guidance from the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation about how to plan for the repairs together instead of as individual project needs arise.
Fort Benning, Ga., has the most interwar-era homes, with 458. There are also large numbers of them at U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii, Fort Bragg, N.C., Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., and Fort Sill, Okla.
The Army has also posted informational documents about the sites and the proposed plan online.
