Army Might Bulk Up JROTC

November 12, 2019

As the services look for ways to address long-term recruitment challenges, the Army is considering a plan to add more Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps programs at high schools across the country, Army Times reported.
Americans at high schools that have JROTC programs are twice as likely to enlist, Maj. Gen. John Evans Jr. told the Association of the U.S. Army last week.
“You don’t have to even participate in the program,” he said. “The mere presence of the program at your high school has at least a corollary effect on your desire or your willingness or your propensity to serve your nation.”
The Army is trying to grow to 500,000 soldiers by 2028.
