Texas Military Operates Call Centers for COVID-19 Testing

In order to meet the demand for free mobile coronavirus testing in the State of Texas, the Texas Military Department is lending a hand in scheduling mobile appointments, KXAN reports.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott estimates that a force of 1,200 soldiers, nearly a third of the state’s deployed troops, will be able to conduct up to 3,500 tests per day.

“We don’t care where these Texans are, if they’re in urban communities, or rural communities, we’re out there to provide services, particularly in the rural communities where the service isn’t available,” said Col. Coldwell of the Texas Army National Guard.

Testing sites are identified up to 48 hours in advance and are mobilized in specific communities. The mobile sites will operate in 22 locations statewide started Tuesday.
