The U.S. Army recent issued a request for project proposals “to develop a wearable diagnostic capability for the pre‐/very early‐symptomatic detection of COVID‐19 infection,” reports NextGov.
The Department of Defense has allocated $25 million for the new technology and plans to give 10 awards for the research process.
“Physiological signatures therefore must produce predictive algorithms that can be tied into validated and relevant antibody/molecular measurements,” wrote the solicitation.
The technology would be able to detect early COVID-19 symptoms including elevated temperature, respiratory difficulty, and “molecular biomarkers indicative of COVID-19 exposure.”
