The community around Fort Gordon, Georgia is working on a regional growth plan to accommodate 2,000 new soldiers coming to the area this year, as WRDW/WAGT reported. “What we’re trying to do is get an understanding of what exactly the impacts are going to be on the area’s housing, public infrastructure, the school systems, the hospitals,” said Costa Pappis of the CSRA Regional Commission….

Officials at Fort Hood, Texas are inviting local leaders to the installation to improve community relations, KXXV-TV reported. “We know that to be most effective, we have to demystify what happens inside Fort Hood. No better way to do that than to bring civilians out here,” said Col. Caggins, senior spokesman for III Corps….
