Pentagon leaders are considering whether to require troops to get a booster shot as part of their mandatory COVID-19 vaccination.
“There are active discussions here in the department at the policy level about booster shots and whether or not to make those mandatory,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby told reporters Friday, according to The Hill. “There have been no final decisions made about that.”
As of Friday, about 96.4% of active duty service members had gotten at least one vaccine dose, and 90% are fully vaccinated. Across the total force – including Guard members and reservists – about 74% have been vaccinated.
