DOD Stops Enforcing Vaccine Mandate for Contractors

December 16, 2021

After a court order halting the Pentagon’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement for defense contractors, the Pentagon has stopped enforcement of the mandate, the Pentagon confirmed, according to Breaking Defense.

Pentagon spokeswoman Jessica Maxwell added that DOD “fully supports” the administration’s vaccine mandate and “has consistently stated that having a fully vaccinated workforce is one of the surest ways to bolster our readiness and safely meet national security readiness requirements.”

Some of the largest defense contractors have said they will struggle to get to 100% compliance and have been asking the Pentagon to allow regular testing for those who do not want to get the shots.
