Several members of the Texas National Guard are moving to unionize through the state employees union, Military.com reported. Many Guardsmen are on a border patrol mission that has been troubled by reports of “wage disruptions, rejected hardship requests, alcohol abuse and self harm,” the article noted. “We’re getting treated like sh–,” the unidentified soldier leading the union effort told Military.com….

The National Guard Bureau recently recognized the Alaska Army National Guard’s restoration team with the Environmental Security Award for its work restoring unattended armory facilities into clean, safe sites to transfer to outside organizations, according to a DOD story….

Stiffler, a military working dog assigned to the 509th Security Forces Squadron, was retired at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri earlier this month and was adopted by military working dog handler Staff Sgt. Alex Villalpando. Stiffler seems to be enjoying retirement, according to an Air Force story. “Stiffler loves having his own freedom, relaxing and being in the moment like most of us do,” Villalpando said. “Most of the time he enjoys lying around on the couch and going on walks.”
