Troops Deployed to NATO Nations Will Rotate Soon

May 16, 2022

Service members rapidly deployed to NATO countries near Ukraine as Russia began its invasion will start to rotate out this summer, Pentagon officials said, as Military Times reported.

“The deployments are one-for-one unit replacements, which will leave our overall force posture in the region — approximately 100,000 — unchanged,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told reporters Friday. “The units being replaced will return to their home station following an appropriate turnover of responsibilities.”

For example, members of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky will replace those from the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
