Tester Has Plan to Help VA Upgrade Facilities

July 28, 2022

Senate Veterans Affairs Committee Chair Jon Tester (D-Mont.), a leader in shutting own the VA commission tasked with recommending consolidation, closure, upgrades and new construction at VA medical facilities, has a plan of his own.

Tester has introduced legislation that would give VA money to hire capital asset management experts for all of its medical centers and add members to the VA’s Capital Asset Planning Committee, Military.com reported.

“The BUILD for Veterans Act pushes VA to modernize and manage its current and future infrastructure needs through commonsense provisions that’ll save taxpayer dollars in the process,” Tester told Military.com.

Senate and House lawmakers in both parties have opposed the VA Asset and Infrastructure Review Commission, as On Base reported.
