New laws passed in recent years could give service members and their spouses additional tax credits this filing season.
“Most of our military families will see a substantial reduction of their overall tax liability,” said Army Lt. Col. David Dulaney, executive director of the Armed Forces Tax Council.
Military Times outlines the changes, including how spouses can declare their residency state and how to deduct moving expenses.
Many installations offer in-person tax counseling through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
