Air Force Picks Six Bases to Pilot Air Task Forces for More Efficient Deployment

May 16, 2024

The Air Force Wednesday announced six locations “to host experimental Air Task Forces that will test new methods to generate more efficient, integrated deployable Units of Action,” according to a press release.

The sites are:

  • Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona
  • Scott Air Force Base, Illinois
  • Joint Base San Antonio, Texas
  • Dyess Air Force Base, Texas
  • Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington
  • Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina

“These pathfinding ATFs will work and train together throughout their [Air Force Force Generation] cycle to ensure they are at peak effectiveness on Day-1 of any deployment,” Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin said. “That’s a significant change from how we deployed over the last 20 years, but the threat has evolved and so must we. The first ATFs will also be learning organizations and shape our forthcoming Combat Wing design.”
