DOD has changed some rules in its on-base hiring practices to improve employment opportunities for active-duty spouses, Military.com reported Tuesday.
A statement from DOD last week detailed that its Priority Placement Program will now allow active-duty spouses to use employment preference for one offer of permanent employment per duty location.
It covers positions funded by non-appropriated funds, such as daycare facilities, bowling centers, golf courses and other base facilities with self-generated funding. DOD said the employment preference will also apply to positions at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service.
DOD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program also changed its rules allowing military spouses to apply for as many positions slated for military spouses as they wish, with no application limits.
DOD civilian positions open to military spouses are now listed with other federal positions on the USAJobs website, SECO announced.
