Fort Jackson, S.C., had a big week celebrating its recognition as a Great American Defense Community while also hosting Army Secretary Mark Esper, the Charlotte Observer reported. The state’s Midlands region and Columbia, S.C., both took the opportunity to show the service’s top official and a group of 78 civilian aides they are serious about their support for the military.
