VA Appeals Hearings, Decisions Moving Faster Under New System

October 27, 2019

A new system that went into effect in February has helped the Board of Veterans’ Appeals process 11% more decisions and hold 38% more hearings, BVA leaders announced this month, according to Military.com.
“The entire department is mostly focused on changing what we do,” BVA Chairman Cheryl Mason said. “This is really about changing for the veterans and providing the services that the veterans and their families need and that’s what the board is committed to.”
Congress mandated the new system two years ago. The policy gives veterans three options for having their appeals considered.
