NDAA Deal May Be Close

Talks on the National Defense Authorization Act hinge on a few remaining issues, and a deal could be just days away, House Armed Services Committee Chairman Adam Smith (D-Wash.) said Wednesday, according to a CQ report.
House and Senate negotiators are still talking about PFAS cleanup standards, family leave for federal personnel, Space Force and the transfer authority to fund a border wall.
“I’ve been cautiously optimistic before, but I’ve checked a lot of boxes,” Smith told Politico earlier in the week. “Democracy’s a bitch. Let’s just put it that way.”
