5G Tests Coming by March, DOD Says

January 16, 2020

The Pentagon will look for vendors to start high-speed 5G wireless projects at four bases this quarter, Breaking Defense reported.
The first experiment will take place at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and focus on spectrum sharing, the Air Force’s Dwayne Florenzie said this week. Tests will follow at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., to experiment with 5G for virtual reality training. Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Ga., and Naval Base San Diego, Calif., will test 5G for expediting depot and warehousing.
5G technology will be a topic of discussion in San Antonio, Texas, next month at ADC’s Installation Innovation Forum. Check out installationinnovation.org for the full agenda.
