Army Awards Eight Environmental Service Programs

Alex A. Beehler, The Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment recently announced five installations and three programs contributing to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Winners include a natural resources conservation program at Michigan Army National Guard, Fort Custer Training Center; waste diversion and recycling program at U.S. Army Garrison Fort Leonard Wood; and groundwater protection and remediation efforts at Camp Edwards, on Joint Base Cape Cod.

“Responsible stewardship of environmental resources is not only essential to Army training and readiness, but also imperative to the overall effectiveness of our military,” said Beehler. The winners will represent the 2020 Secretary of Defense Environmental Awards Program.
