New PCS Rules Take Effect on May 15

March 10, 2020

Officials at U.S. Transportation Command are planning on enacting seven new rules to facilitate and reduce problems in the permanent change-of-station period, reported military.com.

New rules include: movers passing background checks, giving service members the option of choosing to be compensated or having movers cover cost of repair for broken items, increased communication during shipping, faster claims and contact process, and updated alerts in the shipping process.

Changes will take effect on May 15th, beginning of the peak season for PCS moves.

“Changes are focused on addressing the most common pain points we heard from personnel and their families, namely improving communication and the claims process,” said Dave Dunn, a spokesman for U.S. Transportation Command.
