DOD Eases Travel Restrictions on Installations in Germany

May 5, 2020

While most U.S. service members within the United States remain on coronavirus lockdown, many of their Germany-based counterparts are being allowed in-country travel and easements on curfew, reports Stars and Stripes.

“Right now, with your family or one additional person, you can go out to 100 kilometers (62 miles), which is great for all those looking at all the amazing places we have in Germany to go,” said U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz commander Col. Jason Edwards.

Bans on off-base leisure venues like bars, movie theaters and restaurants remain in effect. The new order applies to U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz and U.S. Army Garrison Benelux installations.
