Marine Corps Cancels 2020 Warrior Games

Citing precautions to impede the spread of coronavirus, the Marine Corps announced it will cancel the 10th annual Warrior Games which was set to occur in September, Military Times reports.

Approximately 300 wounded, ill and injured active-duty and veteran service members participate in 12 sports at the annual event.

“The paramount concerns for the health and well-being of the 300 U.S. military active-duty and veteran athletes, international military teams, and residents within the greater San Antonio area,” the Corps wrote in a press release.

The event was scheduled to occur in San Antonio. The list of sports includes archery, cycling, time-trial cycling, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track, field, wheelchair basketball, indoor rowing, powerlifting, golf, and wheelchair rugby.
