DOD Lifts Some Travel Restrictions as COVID-19 Cases Rise

July 9, 2020

The number of COVID-19 cases within the military has doubled within the past month, but DOD is moving forward with plans to open travel at some installations, Federal News Network reported.

Travel restrictions have been lifted at about 30 percent of installations, according to DOD’s official list that tracks status at all sites.

“Decision-making is very much tied to what is happening in their local community,” Thomas McCaffery, assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, said during a recent press briefing.
