A new paper by The National Military Spouse Network highlights the challenges and opportunities facing service member families, particular for military spouses seeking meaningful employment.

Recommendations in the report include: improving data collection and tracking related to spousal employment, legislative priorities such as improving the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), as well as establishing a portal that houses all necessary information to help military spouses receiving employment both in the United States and overseas.

“We continue to aim high as there is no silver bullet solution, but a collection of solutions that will require a whole-of-society response,” said Sue Hoppin, founder and president of the National Military Spouse Network. “We hope this approach will guide lawmakers in the 117th Congress as they continue to work together to ensure our national security by focusing on the financial health of our military families.”
