Five Regions Named Great American Defense Communities

March 30, 2021

ADC announced the newest class of communities in its Great American Defense Communities program Tuesday.

The 2021 class includes Altus, Okla., Coastal Georgia, Everett, Wash., Great Falls, Mont., and the NAS Pensacola and NAS Whiting Field Community.

“These five regions have demonstrated what it means to go above and beyond to support the service members, veterans and military families who live in their communities, even despite the challenges of this past year,” ADC President Joe Driskill said in an ADC press release.

Now in its sixth year, the program is focused this year on highlighting communities making progress in community recovery, resilience and racial equity.

“Service members and their families are valuable assets to the communities where they serve, and we appreciate the local programs and services that embrace them,” said Mike Kelly, assistant vice president for military affairs at USAA, the program’s official sponsor.
