The Pentagon has approved a request from the Department of Health and Human Services to house unaccompanied minors crossing the border from Mexico at Fort Bliss and Joint Base San Antonio, both in Texas, CNN reports….

Religious leader, author and filmmaker T.D. Jakes is in talks with the Fort Mac Local Redevelopment Authority to purchase 132 acres at the former Georgia Army base for real estate development, WABE radio reports. Filmmaker Tyler Perry has his studios on more than 330 acres at the former base….

Through the National Security Innovation Network, Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. is partnering with universities across the country, according to the latest edition of the Air Force Community Partnership Program newsletter. One project with San Diego State University allows development of a 3D-printed device that wind-proofs trash cans and also creation of a drone detection system that operates on sound. The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology also has upcoming partnerships with The University of Texas at Austin, Tufts University, University of California Davis, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, University of California Berkeley and Princeton University.
