SASC Advances Nominations of Air Force Secretary and Others

June 10, 2021

The Senate Armed Services Committee approved several Biden Pentagon picks by voice vote Thursday, including:

  • Frank Kendall to become Air Force secretary
  • Susanna Blume to become director the Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation office
  • Heidi Shyu to become undersecretary of defense for research and engineering
  • Jill Hruby to become director of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
  • Frank Rose to become NNSA’s principal deputy administrator
  • Christopher Maier to become assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict

The Senate must now vote on their confirmations.
