Senate Defense Spending Bill Coming Soon

October 1, 2021

Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee Chair Jon Tester (D-Mont.) said his panel’s draft spending bill and others will likely be released Oct. 15, according to CQ.

When asked if the bill will reflect the higher topline defense spending level that the authorizing committees have agreed to, Tester said, “There’s people that can screw it up, but the truth is I think both sides should be relatively happy,” CQ reported.

The House and Senate Armed Services committees added about $25 billion to the administration’s defense request.
