The Navy has suspended operations at the Honolulu fuel storage site from which petroleum leaked into water on and near Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Military Times reported. The leak displaced hundreds of families, many of whom got sick, as On Base has reported. Petroleum has now been detected in a second Navy water well, Hawaii News Now reported….

The Pentagon and Congress need to do more to bolster installations in the territory of Guam amid rising tensions in the Pacific, current and former officials said, according to Defense One. “[T]he threat to Guam will only increase over the next five years,” said Marine Lt. Gen. Stephen Sklenka, the number-two officer in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. “Those aren’t idle threats. Those are based off of events that we’re seeing unfold around us right now.”…

The Military Spouse Advocacy Network and the Alabama Military Stability Foundation have launched the Alabama Mentorship-HUB with free programming to military families, with a special focus on peer-to-peer mentorship for military spouses, according to a press release and a Facebook announcement. Military families in or moving to Alabama can sign up to join.
