Report: HASC, SASC Leaders Working on Compromise NDAA

December 3, 2021

The chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate Armed Services committees are working on a compromise version of the National Defense Authorization Act, even though it has not yet passed the Senate, according to a Friday morning report from Punchbowl News.

The Senate is deadlocked on advancing its version of the NDAA, with Republicans insisting that a greater number of amendments be allowed on the floor.

The compromise legislation would first be considered in the House next week then head to the Senate, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) indicated on the floor Thursday, according to CQ.

A proposal to add a debt limit increase to the NDAA seems to be losing steam.
