The Department of Veterans Affairs has selected five communities where it will pilot a program providing service dog training to help veterans diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, VA said in a press release. The program, initiated by a law signed last year, will roll out at medical centers in Anchorage, Alaska; Asheville, North Carolina; Palo Alto, California; San Antonio, Texas; and West Palm Beach, Florida. Participating veterans will get to train potential future service dogs as part of their treatment.
