The ribbon was cut on the new Desert Junior Senior High School at Edwards Air Force Base, California Tuesday, according to a press release. The educational complex will support the education of 1,600 K-12 students each year. The project was part of the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation’s Public Schools on Military Installations Program. “We are proud of the collaborations and work that took place to make this vision into a reality,” said Kevin Cordes, superintendent of the Muroc Joint Unified School District….

DOD is looking at potential changes in how the D.C. National Guard is activated and may have a decision in the next six months, according to Military Times. While governors have the authority to activate their states’ Guard troops, the District of Columbia mayor has to go through the Army secretary and Defense secretary. Questions about that process came up again after the Jan. 6 insurrection.
