SASC Advances Nominees, Including Cotton, Owens, Saltzman, Taylor-Kale

The Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday approved the nomination of Lt. Gen. Chance Saltzman to become the chief of space operations. If confirmed on the Senate floor, Saltzman would replace outgoing chief Gen. Jay Raymond.

Other nominations the committee recommended to the Senate, according to a press release, include:

  • Brendan Owens to be assistant defense secretary for energy, installations, and environment
  • Laura Taylor-Kale to be assistant defense secretary for industrial base policy
  • Milancy Harris to be deputy under secretary of defense for intelligence and security
  • Anthony Cotton to be commander of U.S. Strategic Command
