With No Time to Spare, Congress to Consider Stopgap Bill

September 27, 2022

The Senate is expected to take a procedural vote tonight to advance a stopgap spending bill. Democratic leaders hope the package can clear the Senate and House to get the President’s signature before the current fiscal year ends Friday night.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) put his House colleagues on notice they may be in session through the weekend if needed to avoid a government shutdown.

The text of the bill was not publicly released by late Monday night.
