Today’s service members face a dangerous, challenging world, even as they aspire to meet the legacy of “The Greatest Generation,” Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville said earlier this month at the Atlanta Regional Military Affairs Council’s 70th Annual Military Appreciation Lunch, in conjunction with the Cobb Chamber. McConville honored two World War II veterans in attendance – Charlie Duncan, 103, and Bob Brown, 96 – according to a press release from the chamber….

The only base exchange in the Sacramento, California area has closed, “upsetting many area veterans,” Military.com reported. McClellan Air Force Base closed via BRAC in 2001, but the Army and Air Force Exchange Service maintained a presence there until last weekend. “The absence of a military mission, combined with significant decreases in customer demand, requires the closure,” Army and Air Force Exchange Service spokesman Chris Ward said. Sacramento-area vets can travel about an hour to shop exchange stores at Beale Air Force Base, California or Travis Air Force Base, California.
